The community of Porters Lake can be found in the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured way to get around in Porters Lake is usually driving. It is especially convenient to park, and many homes for sale are a rather short drive from the nearest highway. However, the public transit network in Porters Lake is fairly poor. Nonetheless, the community is linked by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is typically very close. Travelling on foot is not very practical for property owners in this community because meeting daily needs is impractical by walking. Porters Lake is also not very appropriate for cycling as there are very few bike lanes, and there are quite a few elevation changes.

Services

Purchasing one's groceries very often demands the use of a vehicle in this community. A limited number of restaurants can be found in this area as well. With respect to education, it is a reasonably short walk to access daycares from most properties for sale in this community. In contrast, there are only a limited number of primary schools in Porters Lake and consequently they can be an extended walk away. Additionally, Porters Lake does not contain any high schools.

Character

The character of Porters Lake is exemplified by its calm environment. This part of the municipality is very quiet, as the streets are especially tranquil. Lastly, it is easy to access public green spaces in the community, since there are about 10 of them nearby for residents to explore and getting to a park from most houses for sale is very easy.

The large proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Porters Lake is an important part of its character. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
