The community of Brookvale is part of the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured way to navigate Brookvale is very often driving. It is very convenient to park. This area is not very suitable for walking since most daily needs are very difficult to meet on foot. The bicycle is a rather limited mode of transportation in Brookvale as there are a fair number of hills, and the bicycling network is quite bad.

Services

There are only a very small number of high schools in this part of Halifax and accordingly they can be a very long walk away. Likewise, this area does not have any primary schools. With respect to food, it is very rarely an option for home buyers in Brookvale to do groceries by walking.

Character

The character of Brookvale is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Brookvale is excellent for those who need quiet areas, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic. Green spaces aren't well-distributed, which makes it very difficult to reach them.

Housing

Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in Brookvale. Around one third of properties in this part of Halifax were constructed prior to the 1960s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s. This community is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the units in the community are occupied by homeowners and 5% are rented.
